In the 1920’s wealthy families from Knoxville Tennessee built summer homes in the Smoky Mountains, to escape the summer heat. After President Roosevelt added The Great Smoky Mountains to the national parks, the homes were abandoned. Now all that remains are some ruins, including this little Troll bridge that spans a small creek.

The joropo is a musical style resembling the fandango, and an accompanying dance. It originated in Venezuelan territory and is also present in the eastern Colombian plains. It is also the most popular “folk rhythm”: the well-known song “Alma Llanera” is a joropo, considered the unofficial national anthem of Venezuela.

This is a spontaneous piece where there was no planning of color or form beforehand. Color and form are instead driven by one song played on a loop each time the piece is worked on. The purpose of this experiment is to combine the art of music and visual art to create something completely unique.
